The Atlantic Council expert page for Sean A. Misko lists him as Director for Gulf States on the White House National Security Council. It says he previously served on the State Department’s Policy Planning Staff, advised Secretary of State John Kerry on South Asia and the Middle East, and led staff work on the Obama Administration’s 2015 National Security Strategy and other initiatives. From 2009 to 2012, the same page says, he was special adviser to the Special Representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan and coordinated negotiation of the United States–Afghanistan Strategic Partnership Agreement. Before Ambassador Richard Holbrooke’s team, it says, he was a policy adviser to U.S. Central Command.
That page also states he began his government career as a Roberts Intelligence Fellow and political analyst at the Central Intelligence Agency; served as a Presidential Management Fellow in State’s Office of Iranian Affairs; and was a special assistant in the Office of Management and Budget’s National Security Division. The CNAS people page lists Sean Misko as a 2014 Next Generation National Security Fellow and, in the contemporaneous bio, as a member of State Policy Planning. It repeats the SRAP, CENTCOM, OMB, Iran, and CIA-fellow lines and adds that Penn State recognized him in 2012 with its Alumni Achievement Award. Those are his think-tank bios. They are not a court record. The Washington Examiner later reported the NSC Gulf States tour as 2015 until the first half of 2018. This page does not invent a different date range.
